This blog is where I share the things that light me up: delicious food, simple recipes, thoughtful reflections, and the joy of discovering local gems around Newcastle, Maitland, and the Hunter. It’s part food journal, part life diary — with a soft spot for café-hopping, carb-loving, and storytelling.
I live in Maitland with my husband and our daughter, and we spend a lot of weekends chasing sunshine, good coffee, and quiet moments by the sea. I’m a home cook at heart — I find comfort in chopping garlic, stirring soup, or plating something that brings people together. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It just has to feel good.
My favourite cuisines are Filipino (my roots), Japanese (my go-to for comfort), and Italian (because who doesn’t love pasta?). But really, I’ll try anything once — especially if it comes with a strong coffee or a cold glass of wine.
Fresh Saturdays is a love letter to food and family and the beautiful in-between. I know, from experience, that it can sometimes be so easy to forget that there is life in between life. Between our careers to manage, responsibilities to do and families to care for — we often need to remember the in-betweens and the “weekends”, so to speak, that make life so joyful and light. My motto in life is always to follow your curiosities because I truly believe this is where big magic happens. There is much to experience out there! I hope this blog and little space on the internet can serve as your respite where you can slow down and be inspired. I hope we get to discover beautiful things together. When all is said and done, isn’t that what life is about? 🙂
