This quick and easy pizza that’s perfect for either lunch or dinner is made with the most perfect storebought dough that’s from the brand Toscano. This is not paid for — I just really, really love them and since randomly discovering it, we’ve not ordered takeaway pizza since.

As a full-time working mum, most of my days end around 4:30 or 5 — sometimes even later. By the time I walk through the door, I’ve already done a full day of work, daycare pickup, and the mental gymnastics of keeping everything moving. And while I want to cook something wholesome from scratch most nights, the reality is… I just can’t. Not always. Not when the energy is gone and everyone’s hungry and we’re all just trying to land the day as gently as we can.

But I still want something on the table that feels like a proper meal. Something fresh-ish, made at home, and not a last-minute call to our local takeaway where I know I’ll be charged an exorbitant amount of money for something I could have made in my kitchen.

This easy homemade pizza recipe is exactly that. Full disclaimer: It’s not fully from scratch, but it’s made at home and dare I say, even more delicious than its counterpart. It’s quicker, cheaper, and honestly — SO MUCH BETTER than takeaway! It tastes fresh, it feels like you actually cooked, and it’s one of those dinners that comes together with minimal fuss but still feels like a win.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make delicious pizza with store bought dough or needed easy pizza recipes that don’t require kneading or rising time, this is it. This quite literally cannot get any easier.

One trick though: Toscano brand pizza bases (Coles and Woolies stock them) and a packet of Sugo Tu tomato sauce. That combo right there is what makes this pizza sing. The base is the closest I’ve ever had to a restaurant-style pizza crust at home — and I’ve tried a lot. It’s chewy, crisp, light, and just really good. And the sugo tomato sauce tastes like you made it yourself, but it costs $2.25 and sits quietly in your fridge until it’s needed. Bless it.

So when the fridge is bare, the motivation is low, and everyone’s circling the kitchen like seagulls, this is what I make. It’s saved us more times than I can count — and once you try it, you’ll see why it’s the best store bought pizza dough recipe to have in your back pocket.

Quick and easy homemade pizza!

Makes 2 round pizzas (serves 2–4, 1 if you’re hungry)
Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Toscano pizza bases (I like the plain, stonebaked one. I find it has a better texture than the sourdough option)

  • 1 packet Sugo Tu tomato sauce (from Coles – it’s in a small red packet, around $2.50)

  • 2 cups shredded pizza cheese (store-bought blend)

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

  • Toppings of your choice, but here are my two go-to combos:

Pepperoni Mushroom Pizza

  • Sliced pepperoni

  • Button mushrooms, sliced

  • Handful of spinach

Sausage + Veg Pizza

  • 2 sausages (casings removed)

  • Sliced mushrooms

  • Diced capsicum (any colour you like)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 230°C

  2. Place your pizza bases on a baking tray (lined if needed).

  3. Spread a few spoonfuls of sugo over each base — not too much, just enough for a nice layer.

  4. Sprinkle a generous handful of cheese over the sauce.

  5. Top with your chosen toppings. If you’re using sausage, break it up into little chunks — no casing, just the meat. It cooks beautifully that way.

  6. Add a final light sprinkle of cheese (I use mozzarella on top)

  7. Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden and the edges of the base are crisp.

  8. Slice and enjoy. Preferably with your feet up and a glass of something nice.

Tip: If you’ve ever wondered how to cook pizza dough in the oven without it turning soggy or overcooking it — make sure to preheated the oven and turn the heat up.

Tell me what you think of the pizza base or what kind of toppings you used! Enjoy!
