Thank you for reading!
The sun was out, the breeze was warm, and it finally felt like spring had arrived. So my little family and I packed a blanket, loaded the car, and drove to one of our favourite spots: King Edward Park. If you’ve ever been, you’ll know the view is something else. There are rolling green lawns leading down to the ocean, waves sparkling under the light, the whole scene making you want to slow down and just breathe.
It was the perfect setting for a picnic. And while my husband chased our little one around the grass, I set out our spread. Simple toasties, cold soda, and my new favourite sidekick: the Salad Pod from Prepara.

From sad salads to fresh ones
I’ve had my fair share of sad salad moments and let me tell you, they’re not fun nor appealing at all. Soggy greens, leaky dressings, crushed veggies that somehow feel less appetising once you’re outside. But this time was different. The Salad Pod is completely leak-proof, with a smart horizontal latch that actually keeps everything sealed. It even has its own little pod for dressing, so nothing mixes until the very last second.
When it was time to eat, I snapped it open, poured the dressing in, gave it a shake, and just like that – fresh, crunchy, flavour-packed salad. No mess, no soggy leaves, just the kind of food that makes you feel a little lighter and brighter, especially when you’re eating it under the sun with the ocean as your backdrop.

What went into my Prepara Salad Pod
For this picnic, I tried to keep everything simple. I started with a Green Goddess pre-packed salad as the base (because sometimes convenience is key). To make it more satisfying (and, honestly, more fun), I added a few extras:
Quinoa for extra protein
Dried cranberries for sweetness and a bit of chew
Grilled halloumi for fat and yumminess
The classic Green Goddess dressing tucked neatly in the pod’s container
All layered up, sealed, and ready to go. When we sat down to eat, it tasted like I’d just made it at home. Even Chris – who’s usually more of a meat-and-three-veg guy – was impressed.
Who is Prepara?
If you’re new to the name, Prepara is a US-born kitchenware brand that’s just launched here in Australia. Their whole mission is to create clever, durable, and well-designed products that make fresh food easier to prepare and enjoy. The Salad Pod is one of their heroes – built for everyday use, easy to toss in your bag, and tough enough to handle real life (picnics, office lunches, school runs, you name it).
To celebrate their Australian launch and this collab, Prepara is offering two special bundles for my readers:
✨ Salad Pod + Spork — 20% off
✨ Salad Pod + Chop + Dressing — 25% off
Both are lightweight, break-resistant, and designed for anyone who’s tired of dealing with soggy, leaky containers.
Our new picnic essential
That afternoon at King Edward Park reminded me why I love simple food so much. It doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated – sometimes all you need is a view of the ocean, good company, and food that tastes as fresh as when you made it.
For me, the Salad Pod has earned its spot as a picnic essential and a workday saviour. It’s the little things that make life easier, and this one has quickly become part of my everyday.
