Mother’s Day is always a special time in our household, as I assume in a lot of homes as well. This is my third year celebrating mum’s day since being a mum and we always make it a point to do something extra special. This year, we decided to make it extra memorable with a visit to the Rydges Hunter Valley breakfast buffet in their restaurant called Redsalt. If you’ve read some of my posts, you’ll know I loooove a good breakfast buffet and luckily we found this sweet spot up on Hunter Valley. Spoiler alert—it did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, we could see how in demand this breakfast spot is, especially on such a busy occasion. The line was long but let me tell you, the food selection and the whole experience were worth it. It’s a short 20-30 minute drive from Newcastle or Maitland, so if you’re considering a family-friendly breakfast buffet in the Hunter Valley, this one should definitely be on your radar.

A Buffet Experience to Remember

When it comes to variety, the Rydges Hunter Valley breakfast buffet absolutely delivers. The selection was extensive, catering to all kinds of breakfast cravings. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect:

  • Hot Food Bar: Think bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and grilled tomatoes, all cooked to perfection. The hot food bar had everything you’d want for a hearty breakfast.

  • Ready-Made Food Bar: For those who like to grab and go, there were ready made avo toasts, eggs benny, and an array of pre-prepared dishes that you could pile onto your plate.

  • Coffee Bar: Nothing says good breakfast than an amazing cup of coffee. The coffee bar had both espresso and filter options, with plenty of milk choices for the latte lovers out there. I especially love that they have a cold brew option alongside different flavoured syrups. It was definitely a treat.

  • Salad Bar: For a lighter, more refreshing start, the salad bar had a mix of greens, fruits, and some classic morning favorites like smoked salmon and cold cuts.

  • Cereal and Pancake Bar: Perfect for the kids (or adults with a sweet tooth!). There was a variety of cereals, and the pancakes were fluffy with all the toppings you could imagine—think whipped cream, nutella, fresh berries, and of course, maple syrup.

While there was a bit of a wait to be seated due to the high demand, the staff managed the crowd efficiently, and it wasn’t long before we were tucking into our breakfast feast. Booking ahead is definitely a good idea if you’re planning to visit during a holiday or weekend!
